Collections
The National Institute of Architecture’s collection gathers, preserves, and researches artefacts of Lithuania’s architectural culture, primarily from the 20th and 21st centuries. Its core holdings include drawings, sketches, photographs, technical documents, models, and other legacy materials documenting the country’s architectural and urban development. One of NAI’s main aims is to create a shared home for these objects, where creators’ archives and ideas are carefully preserved. The Collections Department also documents and researches heritage sites and records creators’ recollections.
In NAI’s future home – the historic Kaunas Central Post Office building – museum-standard collection storage facilities are planned. These spaces will provide the right conditions to receive, organise, catalogue, and preserve archival materials of different formats for the long term, keeping them accessible for research and public use. If you have documents, photographs, drawings, models, or other objects that could enrich Lithuania’s architectural narrative, we invite you to contact the collection curator to discuss donation or transfer options.
