As the Institute announced, the event was attended by Gintaras Balčytis, President of the Lithuanian Union of Architects and author of the pavilion concept, and Jūratė Tutlytė, Commissioner of Lithuania’s participation in the Venice Architecture Biennale.

After the event, the Lithuanian Pavilion team departed for Venice to install the exhibition.

BNS reported that Lithuania will be represented at the 19th Venice Biennale by the Lithuanian Union of Architects’ project Tree Architecture: From Local Roots to Become, for which EUR 200,000 has been allocated.

The project aims to present architecture from different parts of Lithuania through classical means, explore the use of wood in architecture, and raise questions about “greenwashing” trends.

According to the Lithuanian Union of Architects, the pavilion exhibition will feature models of architectural works from the 1960s, the present day, and projects still in development, as well as filmed material and an installation.

The national pavilion will open in Venice, at the baroque Ospedaletto complex, on the evening of 8 May. The pavilion will be open until 23 November.
