The National Institute of Architecture is a hub for architectural art, research, heritage, initiatives, ideas, and public discussion. It will open in 2028 on one of Kaunas’ most prominent spaces: the former Central Post Office (architect Feliksas Vizbaras, 1931). Its program will include exhibitions, research, education, and events for professionals and etc.
In this historic building, visitors will discover the evolution of Lithuanian and international architecture, alongside contemporary trends in architectural art. The modernist halls will host a permanent exhibition, a reading room and café, exhibition and conference areas, a digital content room, art residency studios, an archive and collections and a children’s room.

We collect specialised and professional literature and architecture publications, and provide the public with open, free access to them in a publicly accessible reading room in Kaunas city centre.
We develop and deliver cultural education projects, hands-on architectural education activities, and a wide range of public and educational initiatives.
We collect, preserve, research, and present museum assets of Lithuanian architectural art and architectural heritage, as well as artifacts of architectural history.
We plan, organize, curate, and present exhibitions of architectural art and architectural heritage. We commission works of architecture or design specifically for exhibitions and events, and we foster dialogue with creators in Lithuania and abroad.
We promote and implement the values of the New European Bauhaus in architecture and urbanism by bringing together sustainability, aesthetics, and social inclusion, and by delivering interdisciplinary projects, educational activities, discussions, and creative initiatives.
